STARS were flying high during the club's first competitive graded competition.

Members of Wessex Flyers showed off their skills to impress at the event in Chippenham to the delight of coaches Lynn and Frances Hayes.

Callum Tilsed, Esther Barrow and Frances Hayes all gained high enough scores to receive grade three medals.

Frances Hayes (over-18) took home gold in grade four, as did Callume Tilsed competing in the under 11 event.

For the first time Callum competed agaist only boys but excelled in his disciplined ten jump set and voluntary routines.

Megan Bartlett found her main competition to be team mate Emma Hamblin in the grade five under-15 event, with Megan ending up with gold and Emma the silver.

Rebecca Dinsdale and Amy Ferris also jumped well, resulting in the team taking the gold.

Grade four (under-15) saw Maxie Beals jump well, but it was Esther Barrow who performed slightly better to take a higher place.

The younger Grade five girls had mixed results.

Gemma Taylor, Kirsty Watt, Serena Thompson and Charley Titheridge, who just missed out individually on a medal by finishing fourth, took silver medal in the under-13 age group.

The under-11 girls were cursing their luck when Chantelle Hooper, Courtney Thompson and Alice Hamblin ended fourth overall.

Jonathan Rogers (under-11, grade 5) just missed out on a medal, as did Ellen Tilsed and Danielle Hill, who is now emigrating to Australia.

A club spokesman wished the Hill family well and thanked Wendy Hill who has worked to raise cash since the club's inception.
